its true, you know
your pet dog, horse, rabbit, cat, snake, or naked mole rat is a little extension of you. it may well be that you are buff and tan and muscular and you have a little yappy chihuahua. that’s ok. that’s not what i mean. but who is your dog? what’s his personality? what have you done with your cat? is she friendly? how do you treat her? do you play with your ferret?
it’s a little bit of you, because if you are truly that animal’s owner, if that animal is truly your pet, you have invested yourself in that animal. you care, however you show it. and now it’s got a little bit of your heart.

My Napoleon thinks he’s a person. He sleeps on my bed with his head on the pillow and has his own chair at the table where he sits while we eat dinner.
